The content on this sub has really gone down hill. Perhaps that's the real black magic fuckery

It's this nine times out of ten. A lot of content posted here is genuinely interesting, and usually stuff I haven't been before, but it's hardly r/blackmagicfuckery.

72

u/il_the_dinosaur Feb 08 '23

r/interestingasfuck has to be the worst offender in this regard. Anything there is barely interesting at all. But it's the most popular of the "interesting" subs so everyone who has something posts it there instead of the more appropriate subs.

34

u/arandomcomic Feb 08 '23

Yeah. Someone posted a picture of a floppy disk

7

u/1527lance Feb 08 '23

I would actually give that honor to /r/unexpected but you aren't wrong that those have gone way downhill

/r/mildlyinteresting is consistently more interesting than that sub, which is ironic to say the least

I don't know, r/nextfuckinglevel holds the title for me. I think what made me leave that sub was a video of some random TikTok dude doing played up, simple, good deeds for a video. Had like 70k upvotes.

Half the shit that gets upvotes there isn't even a good video, let alone next fucking level

Horror movie stuff has no place in r/oddlyterrifying. It's for things that are oddly terrifying, notably not intentionally so. It was never a "the horror of horrors" sub. Same thing with r/oddlysatisfying, really. I do agree that both of those subs are littered with posts that don't fit, but what you're describing equally doesn't fit

→ More replies (4)

6

u/hellslave Feb 08 '23

I think you're missing the "oddly" part. A horror movie having stuff that is scary isn't odd, as it's expected to be scary. Something like that sign, with those plants, is not expected, thus, is oddly terrifying.

u/Achillurito Feb 08 '23

Do you think you could define black magic fuckeey for me then?

90

u/Charokol Feb 08 '23

“I know it when I see it”… and “guy who’s talented at manipulating his voice“ is not it.

53

u/MsTerryMan Feb 08 '23

The tenth highest post of all time on this subreddit is just people throwing vans and showing them land right side up.

I think this post qualifies

10

u/NutterTV Feb 08 '23

The two highest posts of all time are checks notes bottle hitting it’s cap and the pressure escaping out quickly and a guy making Turkish coffee. I don’t think any of these turds actually care what’s posted here they just want to be “right.”

5

u/in_rainbro Feb 08 '23

Whataboutism

9

u/MsTerryMan Feb 08 '23

I didn’t reference some random post with no upvotes, I referenced the tenth highest post of all time to use as a metric for what belongs in this sub. If a shoe throwing post is deemed top ten worthy then this post fits.

Not whataboutism

u/NutterTV Feb 08 '23

But I feel that could be said of literally any post on here. If you look at the all time top posts on this subreddit it’s literally a bottle hitting the ground and popping from carbonation, something I used to do when I was 5. And a guy making Turkish coffee. Nothing on here is “black magic fuckery” if everyone in the comments is just going be like “well actually it’s a very simple chemical reaction 🤓” I mean considering magic isn’t real and all. Basically every video posted on here is going to be some strange form of physics or chemistry that might not be an everyday sight. I’m going to say a guy using his vocal cords to sound exactly like a saxophone probably qualifies more as “black magic” than a bottle under pressure hitting directly on the cap and exploding back up into the air ya know?

Perhaps the real black magic fuckery is the friends we made along the way.

71

u/Brad_Brace Feb 08 '23

The black magic fuckery was inside us all along.

28

u/SchwarzerKaffee Feb 08 '23

And it was always magnets.

23

u/DrOwldragon Feb 08 '23

So that's why I have internal bleeding.

17

No, that’s my fault.

4

6

2

3

u/Soft-Preparation1838 Feb 08 '23

The black magic fuckery is coming from inside the house

2

u/Huge_butthole69420 Feb 08 '23

No no the black magic fuckery is the experiences we had that made us who we are.

174

u/vampireguy20 Feb 08 '23

What is this sub supposed to be, then? A showcase of strange happenings and abilities people have that could only be explained through nerdy jargon or by, I dunno, r/blackmagicfuckery perhaps? Cause that's exactly what this is! What do you want, pagan rituals and literal black magic?

75

u/NullSurplus Feb 08 '23

This discussion is in literally every comment section on reddit, lmfao. People, if you're so dissatisfied with the content, post your own! No one is getting paid for this.

10

u/Fa1nted_for_real Feb 08 '23

Especially on a dank meme reddit. Literally all 3 definitions of dank meme I found were completely different, even In opposition.

31

u/choopiewaffles Feb 08 '23

I’ve unfollowed this sub ages ago. Just seen this post through popular.

Every damn time i see something from this sub theres always people complaining about that why it shouldn’t be on this sub. Apparently you can’t post anything chemistry related, magic tricks and unique talents.

4

u/TheVandyyMan Feb 08 '23

No optical illusions (even naturally occurring) or little known physics tricks either

5

u/HawkwingAutumn Feb 08 '23

"No this isn't black magic because" followed by an explanation so convoluted it proves why the post deserves to be here

4

u/crush3dzombi115 Feb 08 '23

Even then, they complain because it looks so similar to card trick 69420666

2

u/BehlndYou Feb 08 '23

Looking through profiles of people who always complain in different posts, my theory is most of those who do are either very young or extremely confident/full of themselves in their life. You don’t see an ounce of humbleness from them as expected, and as such they won’t be impressed by voice sax that ironically they themselves can’t do.

20

u/lemmefixdat4u Feb 08 '23

Ask Michael Winslow. He's the actor that played the sound effects guy in the Police Academy films. Can't ask Mel Blanc anymore (dead). The human vocal tract is one hell of an instrument.

6

u/depersonalised Feb 08 '23

they say the saxophone is the closest in timbre to the human voice of all the woodwinds, so this tracks. sick voice control anyway though.

Can someone give me an example of what you all consider black magic fuckery cause I never took the name of the sub seriously

Edit: I'm going to guess nobody's going to send me an example and everyone is going to keep bitching about the content of the sub not being "black magic fuckery" enough

5

u/NutterTV Feb 08 '23

Lol exactly. The top two posts on here are literally a bottle hitting the ground and exploding and a guy using hot sand to make coffee. Those are clearly acceptable. But a guy using his head to make a saxophone noise is definitely not!

I swear these people never know what they want 😂

9

u/BelieveInDestiny Feb 08 '23

at least it's fuckery

7

u/El_Nasty Feb 08 '23

The real black magic fuckery is in the comments

5

u/LSUguyHTX Feb 08 '23

I'm convinced it's all bots posting in every possible sub it could get away with

2

u/BedlamiteSeer Feb 08 '23

A lot of the time it is. Bots or aggregator accounts that just shovel garbage into every sub that won't remove the posts. I've been blocking subs left and right because of this and I'm about to do the same with this sub.

3

u/LSUguyHTX Feb 08 '23

I'm a mod of a sub for a certain blue collar industry and we get these posts for those cheap knock off sweaters and tshirts a few times a week. Every time it's an account with a ton of karma and you look through it and it's all reposts on karma farm/easy up vote subs and copied top comments.

3

u/BedlamiteSeer Feb 08 '23

Yeah. It's really bad. What makes me nervous is that I've realized that I no longer have the ability to distinguish between human made posts and bot or AI posts. They're getting too advanced. I don't know what to do about this.

5

3

u/CharlesPukowski Feb 08 '23

People say we use 10% of our brains, we use about 2% of our vocal chords. Tuvan throat singing it’s truly fuckery, it’s hard to even understand when you are hearing it.

2

u/Herbicidal_Maniac Feb 08 '23

I'm going to start posting videos of mime routines next

2

u/unmerciful_DM_B_Lo Feb 08 '23

Tf are you wanting to see, dude? You know there's no such thing as actual black magic right? The sub isn't literal. Your expectations are highly irrational.

So tired of the incessant bitching here.

2

u/DarkEnergy27 Feb 08 '23

What do you want this sub to be, huh? Actual magic that can't be explained by anyone? Evil warlocks chanting in the woods?

2

u/TooDenseForXray Feb 08 '23

The content on this sub has really gone down hill. Perhaps that’s the real black magic fuckery

this was actually pretty good!

2

u/snotfart Feb 08 '23

It's more BMF than a street magician doing some lame trick with a fake thumb.

2

u/PopcornShrimpy Feb 08 '23

Exactly, I can already tell the trick is he swallowed a saxaphone. Smh basic crap.

2

u/VirtualRealityOtter Feb 08 '23

Maybe the real Blackmagic fuckery is what happened to the sub along the way.

2

u/kentuckycriedfrick3n Feb 09 '23

True. I thought I was the only one. Most things on this sub now are just things that are interesting. Black magic fuckery to me should be things that are unexplainable. Like the singer at a concert that “disappeared” after some confetti fell down. That shouldn’t have been in this sub. The stunt that was pulled is easily explainable, not black magic fuckery.

14

u/EseStringbean Feb 08 '23

Nobody cuts coke with fentanyl. You're buying into the bs propaganda. Think about it. Fentanyl is about 2-3x the price of coke by weight. Why the fuck would any dealer cut a cheaper drug with a more expensive one? Unless that dealers goal is to lose money from selling drugs.

4

u/flewidity Feb 08 '23

Show one example of something on this sub that’s unexplainable

6

u/YukiSnowmew Feb 08 '23

Obviously anything on this sub can be explained. The point is, the explanation should not be immediately obvious. A post should feel like something almost magical is happening because the explanation is unintuitive, non-obvious, and hard to wrap your head around.

2

u/flewidity Feb 08 '23

Pretty subjective then

4

If you like this, check out Tom Thum, who is quite possibly the best beat boxer on the planet. The shit this guy can do with his mouth alone is absurd. He has a repertoire of hundreds of instruments (no, really), both analogue and digital, old and new, from reed and woodwind to strings and drums and everything in between, and he can even mimic old school turntable scratching insanely well.

Anyway here's a brief example of him performing a quick jazz number featuring sax and trumpet, via a loop pedal.

https://youtu.be/R3_8pKyttl8

Edit: I could honestly watch videos of him performing all day, he's just so fucking astounding. Here are some longer showcase performances from various events over the years if you're interested, I really can't recommend them highly enough.

Australian Beatboxing Championship 2019

Beatbox Brilliance — TEDxSydney 2013

Sound and Silence: A Beatboxer's Love Affair With Silence — TEDxGateway 2020

Beatbox Battle TV Showcase 2015

And if you'd rather hear individual tracks, here are some of his best:

Aloe Black — I Need A Dollar (Tom Thum Cover)

Tom Thum — Cheap Wine

Portishead — Glory Box ft. Claire Walters (Tom Thum Cover)

Tom Thum — Ratchet Face ft. Queensland Symphony Orchestra

Tom Thum — Diving for Pearls (A Binaural Beatbox Recording)

And if none of that is enough to blow your dick off then I don't know what to tell you. Enjoy!

18

u/PrairiePepper Feb 08 '23

Thank you for this.

6

u/rubbery_anus Feb 08 '23

My pleasure, I'm a huge fan of his work so it's great to see other people enjoying it too!

11

u/tinaroma Feb 08 '23

Thank you for this recc! Just went down a rabbit hole and his most incredible videos are the ones where he is paired with an orchestra imo. His musicality and auditory storytelling is incredible

6

u/rubbery_anus Feb 08 '23

I'm so glad you like it, he's truly incredible isn't he? Not just an immensely talented beatboxer, not just an accomplished musician, but a genuinely good guy who's funny and engaging and works his arse off to hone his craft and bring joy to his fans.

His Instagram is great too, he's always posting little snippets of stuff he's working on, or cool mini-tunes he's just come up with, and sometimes excerpts from his various tutorial series which are always super interesting.

I could make a living just posting the original video links for reposts

Now I'm picturing redditors linking a Patreon.

Snag a username, something like, /u/IPostSources, have a signature like those bots do, something like,

This comment was made by a human || I am very hungry, this is the only way I make money || You can support my source posting endeavors at patreon.com/IPostSourcesOnReddit || Merch available at IPostSourcesOnReddit.shop

And then spend literally all of your workday trying to post sources on Reddit enough that people will actually pay you, turning one of your relaxing past times into one of the biggest stressors in your day.

And then get out marketed anyway by someone like, /u/IPostPornSources.

Edit: Oh holy shit, that first one was real. And has only one (surviving) comment, and it's on a Wincest sub.

Imagine a woman receiving oral, she's about to get off then she hears yakity sax coming from between her thighs.

u/sanebyday Feb 08 '23

That’s probably the sound he makes when he climaxes too.

An obvious inspiration for sure.

I’m disappointed it took a bit of scrolling to find this.

u/Prestigious-Camel-96 Feb 08 '23

LOL at the guy in the background playing an actual saxophone

"I could have KILLED you!"

4

u/Artieis Feb 08 '23

Sir this is a Wendy's

4

u/hypnaughtytist Feb 08 '23

Instead of blowing air over a reed, he uses his vocal cords. Very cool!

3

u/FriendlyCraig Feb 08 '23

Reminds me of Tom Thum. Dude pulls off a sax, guitar, and other effects with his face as well. This guy is really good, though.

3

u/1100bandits Feb 08 '23

Ha ha ha. I'd bet this is his party piece. And, tbf, it is good. But I don't see any blackmagicfuckery here.

3

u/Doglover4561 Feb 08 '23

That’s some talent

u/MsMcClane Feb 08 '23

I do this exact same thing with trumpets XD

He is doing well now making plenty of money voicing the goose from goose game

2

u/BLACK_SHEPHERD Feb 08 '23

If anyone currently bitching in the comments claimed it was easy, and can prove they're better in 24 hrs? I'll give you a humble reward instead of op.

2

u/BigThunder3000 Feb 08 '23

It’s supposed to be left hand over right.

2

u/monadyne Feb 08 '23

Hey! Save some pussy for the rest of us, sax man!
