Discussion Driving pet peeve
What’s you biggest Vancouver driving pet peeve? Mine: when pedestrian controlled (flashing green) lights turn red and drivers on the cross street treat it like a green light for them. It’s still a stop sign, ffs, so you have to stop and wait for anyone in the intersection (eg someone trying to turn left) to clear out. I’ve almost gotten hit too many times
*edited to remove “taking turns” term because several people have pointed out that’s technically not correct (and it wasn’t my primary point anyway)

Local News Fire at Broadway and Fraser right now.
The old shops and apartments on the Northeast corner of Fraser and Broadway are up in smoke at the moment (6:30am). Hope everyone got out of there okay. Fire Department is onsite.

Ask Vancouver Diagnosed with Cancer in BC? Anyone know the system? Need help not sure where to ask.
I’m asking here because I don’t know where else to ask. A loved one of mine was recently diagnosed. At first the drs said they found oversized polyps in colon had to be removed surgically and surgery was booked April 4th, they then did a ct. scan and have found tumours in which they believe is cancer in the liver. The surgery is now cancelled due to cat scan for the potentially cancerous polyps and section of colon removed. My loved one is in a lot of pain. BC cancer says the appointment with oncologist is booked for May 31st , 2 months ?? Seems like a long time for things to get worse with 0 treatment and feel like if liver tumours originated in colon the colon masses should still be removed. Help , anyway to speed this up and or at least help the pain?

Ask Vancouver Dressew on Hastings
I went for the first time in about 10 years. Literal time capsule. Feels like a fever dream or "the backrooms". I used to go as a kid with my step mom for crafts or my mom for Halloween decorations. Does anyone else feel this way? Oh, I also got some patches that I swear are dead stock from the 70s. Gonna look more into that.

Ask Vancouver Icebreaker activities
Few Cousins coming into town and we haven’t spoken in like 7 years. Everyone is in their 20’s and chill, but I am afraid it might be awkward. We might have to break the ice again by doing an activity. Something fun that can get the group talking. Any Lower Mainland suggestions?

Ask Vancouver Cross boarder grocery shopping
My wife has some special dietary needs and the USA Costco has these products that don't exist in Canada.
Does anyone have experience with this? Any limits I should be aware of?

Ask Vancouver Go-to Alteration Shops
I lost weight recently so I have a couple of shirts with sentimental value that are now loose and baggy for me. Most of them I use for work as well. I would just like to ask where are your go-to sewing and alteration shops and how much do they cost? I'm talking about removing a couple of inches on the sleeves and on the sides. I already googled and viewed a couple of shops here in East Van but I just thought of asking here as well.
TIA. Stay safe and awesome, everyone!

Discussion Disputing ticket experience?
I got pulled over earlier this morning, and the cop claimed that one of their “spotters” saw me go on my phone during a red light.
I was at a red light and a homeless man was walking around with a sign. I had lifted my phone (which was in my cup holder) to see if I had change, I’m sure the screen turned on because that’s usually what happens with iPhones. I only had a couple dimes in my cup holder so I put back the phone.
When I turned left the cop pulled me over and gave me a ticket. It’s my first ticket and I was a bit frazzled so i didn’t know what to do or say.
Can I dispute this? Is it even worth disputing? I only have my class 7 so I’m worried how they will affect my driving record.
